In its continuous effort to beautify its desolate, concrete schoolyard, Perth Avenue Public School entered itself into a contest to score a beautification grant.
Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment’s Team Up Foundation Fund is offering four grants give the chance for charitable Ontario organizations that support youth recreation and sports programs or have youth sports facilities that are in need of refurbishing, to receive one of four $50,000 grants.
Starting January 20, anyone interested will be able to vote for an organization online. A grant commitee will review the top 20 oranizations before narrowing down the field to a final top 10 for a final online vote. The final round of voting will open on March 7 and run until March 16.
The school at 14 Ruskin Ave. plans to add an artificial turf among other outdoor activities and learning possibilities to the schoolyard that is now comprised of nothing but concrete.
